IT WAS AROUND 30000 MILES WHEN THE "CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM" STARTS FLASHING EVERY NOW AND THEN. SOMETIMES IT TELLS ME THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS OFF. I DON'T KNOW WHY AND MY CAR NEVER GOT INTO ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT NOR A CRASH. IT JUST KEEPS ON BLINKING FLUKE EVERY 2 MINUTES AND IT'S REALLY ANNOYING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IM MOVING OR NOT.

ON OCT. 24 AND 25, 2018, A MESSAGE "AIRBAG SYSTEM" SUDDENLY APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD. ON OCT. 25, 2018, I TOOK THE CAR TO ROBERTSON HONDA WERE THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I WAS ASKED IF MY CAR WAS EVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND I SAID NO. HE INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED. WHEN I PROTESTED, HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK WITH HIS SUPERVISOR AND WHEN HE CAME BACK HE SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $90.00. I DIDN'T TAMPER WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM SO HONDA SHOULD ABSORB THE COSTS,. I CALLED HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE LIST OF RECALL, AND THE WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE SAID AMOUNT. ARE THEY RIGHT?

SINCE THE FIRST WEEK I BOUGHT MY HONDA DASH SCREEN READ THAT "PASSANGER AIRBAG IS OFF". I NOTIFIED THE WORKERS AT THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WOULD GET IT SERVICED. THEY STATED THAT IT WASN'T ANYTHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT, SOMETIMES THAT HAPPENS. IT DOESN'T SHOW UP ALL THE TIME BUT EVERY NOW AND THEN IT'LL POP UP. I HOPE I WON'T EVER HAVE TO FIND OUT IF IT IS PROPERLY WORKING IN A CAR INCIDENT BUT IT IS A CONCERN OF MINE IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT WORK. WHEN IT DOES OCCUR IT OCCURS WHEN I'M DRIVING.

PURCHASED VEHICLE PRE-OWNED WITH 12K MILES. SINCE PURCHASE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR ILLUMINATES AND DE-LUMINATES WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING (RIDING) THERE (OVER 100 LBS). TO DATE, THERE ARE NO RECALLS. I CALLED HONDA CUST SVC TODAY. HONDA SVC SAID TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND IF NOT HAPPY WITH THEM, GO TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER, IE, SECOND OPINION. HONDA DOES NOT ACCEPT THE FACT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR FOR THE AIRBAG. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM PLEASE WRITE A LETTER TO WHOMEVER YOU THINK MAY BE ABLE TO HELP SO THAT HONDA WILL REPAIR THE SENSOR BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED DUE TO THIS SENSOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *TR

The EPS Electric Power Steering failed on the vehicle with no warning. At 35-40 MPH the EPS warning light came on and the car could not be turned in any direction. The car was wrestled off to the side of the road. It was turned off for several minutes and turned back on. Problem persisted. Turned off ignition for 10 minutes and the warning light went out and steering came back. Thank God there was no accident. This is beyond dangerous. Honda needs to step up to the plate and recall these vehicles with defective steering. Somebody is going to die. Now my daughter is afraid to drive the vehicle. We need to get it to the shop.

Owns a 2012 HONDA Civic Hybrid. While driving ~30MPH, the IMA/braking/engine/charging/ABS lights illuminated. The car still driving but the hybrid system fails. Also, when starting the engine it switches to using the starter instead of the EV motor. The 12V battery will not charge and die soon, which increases the risk of a stall on the road, thus leading to a crash. The vehicle was taken to a Honda Dealer which suggests a Model Power Inverter failure. There is a Technical Service Bulletin: 20-030 (Warranty Extension: 2012-15 Civic Hybrid IMA Motor Power Inverter) related to the failing parts, however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The vehicle was not prepared. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000 miles.

THE CAR STALLED IN TRAFFIC DUE TO RODENT DAMAGED WIRES AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE DAMAGED WIRES WERE HIDDEN, OUT OF SIGHT, IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, UNDER THE AIR FILTER HOUSING. THE DAMAGE SEEMED TO BE WHERE THE WIRES WERE EXPOSED NEAR A CONNECTOR (NOT COVERED BY BLACK PLASTIC PROTECTIVE SHEATH). MY VEHICLE SPEED IS JUST A BEST GUESS AS I WAS RIDING THE BRAKE PEDAL IN TRAFFIC AND NOTICED THAT MY DASH WAS LIT UP WITH ERROR CODES AND THE ENGINE WENT SILENT. I AM POSTING THIS HERE BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS FULL OF RODENT DAMAGED WIRE CASES AND SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT THE CAUSE IS THE MATERIAL BEING USED IN TODAY'S AUTOMOBILE WIRE INSULATION. THERE ARE COMMENTS THAT SOY AND PLANT BASED, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MATERIALS ARE BEING USED INSTEAD OF PETROLEUM BASED PLASTICS, WHICH MIGHT ATTRACT RODENTS (OR MAYBE JUST EASIER TO CHEW THROUGH?). CAR MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF THEY HAVE SWITCHED TO SOMETHING THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS OR IS MUCH EASIER TO DAMAGE BY RODENTS. CAR MANUFACTURERS SHOULD DESIGN RODENT PROOF WIRING AND NOT LEAVE WIRES EXPOSED AND UNPROTECTED NEAR CONNECTORS. I

While driving, my 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid suddenly loses power and steering ability. The vehicle stalls and the steering wheel locks up, making it impossible to safely maneuver. This has happened multiple times, including in traffic, creating a serious risk of collision. When the failure occurs, warning lights illuminate on the dashboard, including the IMA light, anti-lock brake light, and others. In some cases, all dash lights flash before the car stalls. When scanned with an OBD tool, the vehicle shows power inverter-related fault codes. The symptoms are consistent with the IMA motor power inverter defect described in Honda Recall H98 (2012–2015 Civic Hybrid inverter recall). However, my VIN does not currently show as part of that recall. Despite this, the vehicle is clearly experiencing the same safety defect. This defect causes sudden loss of propulsion and steering assist, placing myself, passengers, and other drivers at serious risk. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

There is a "metal" splash guard (approx. 2ft x 2ft) under the engine that is secured by 4 steel bolts/screws and steel U-Clips. If the metal splash guard falls off it could puncture the gas tank, cut gas and brake lines or take someone's head off. This guard is more than just a piece of thin tin. The Bolts/Clips secure the metal guard to the remaining "plastic" splash guard under the rest of the car (metal probably needed for engine heat reasons). I noticed the missing metal plate after a Honda Dealer's oil change. I thought that they might have accidently forgotten to replace it after the oil change, but was told that was not the case (I got the impression that it was not uncommon for these metal splash guards to fall off). The oil filter and drain plug access requires removal of this metal plate during service. My metal plate fell off due to rusted through bolts/screws because 3 of the metal clips stayed in place and were very rusted. The dealer replacement parts were expensive, something like >> bolts-clips $10 x 4 = $40 plus approx $30 for the metal plate $70 total. Honda had to order the metal plate to be delivered later. Once the plate arrived at the Dealership they contacted

CAR CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF ON THE TRUNK AND ROOF IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. IN AREAS WHERE THE CLEAR COAT IS GONE, THE PAINT IS NOW COMING OFF. VEHICLE IS A 2012 HONDA CIVIC PURCHASED NEW IN 2011. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED IN 2018 APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AFTER EXTENDED PAINT WARRANTY EXPIRED. I CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR COSTS AND SAID THERE WAS NO KNOWN PAINT DEFECT FOR MY VEHICLE YEAR/MODEL. THE PAINT IS DEGRADING AT AN ALARMING RATE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 7 YEARS OLD. THE PROBLEM IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE OWNED 2 OTHER HONDA'S AND NEVER HAD A PAINT ISSUE. THE NUMEROUS WEBSITES AND FACEBOOK GROUPS DEDICATED TO HONDA PAINT PROBLEMS SUGGESTS THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT HONDA HAS CHOSEN NOT TO ADDRESS. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN FLORIDA AND WAS PREVIOUSLY IN ILLINOIS AND MARYLAND. THE CAR WAS TYPICALLY WASHED ONCE A MONTH AT A CAR WASH OR BY HAND AND WAXED AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR. SINCE THE PROBLEM STARTED, I NO LONGER WASH THE EXTERIOR SINCE THAT EXACERBATES THE PAINT DEGRADATION.

HONDA RELEASED A NOTICE ACKNOWLEDGING CRACKS OR "CROW'S FEET" THAT DEVELOP ON THE PAINT OF OLDER MODEL HONDA CIVIC'S ('06-'11). I RECENTLY BEGAN SEEING THESE PAINT DEFECTS ON THE HOOD AND ROOF OF MY 2012 HONDA CIVIC COUPE EX THAT IS BLACK IN COLOR (CRYSTAL BLACK PEARL). I WAS TOLD THAT THIS CRACKING WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE EARLIER, CANADIAN-BUILT, BLUE, BLACK, AND GREY CIVIC'S, BUT BECAUSE THE 2012'S+ ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE STATEMENT, IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. BEING MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS AROUND 20,000 MILES, IT GENUINELY WORRIES ME HOW WELL THE PAINT WILL HOLD UP OVER TIME. THE HONDA FACTORY WARRANTY, AS WELL AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED, WILL ALSO NOT COVER THIS DEFECT. FROM MY RESEARCH, THESE CRACKS ARE CAUSED BY AN IMPROPER PAINTING PROCESS AT THE FACTORY AND WILL GROW WORSE OVER TIME. I ASK THAT HONDA LOOK INTO THIS AND EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE CERTAIN 2012+ HONDA CIVIC MODELS. *TR

I TOOK IT TO HONDA MULTIPLE TIMES TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CIVICS AND THAT TO GET IT FIXED, IT WOULD COST $200-300 WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE TPMS CAN ACT UP LIKE THIS AGAIN. MY HONDA CIVIC EX-L 2012 FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED OR IDLING POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES IN THE THREE WEEKS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE (CURRENT ODOMETER READING AS OF THIS WRITING IS 650 MILES). I HAVE NOTICED IT MOST OFTEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED OR IDLING POSITION TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. HOWEVER THE LEFT HAND TURN MAY BE MORE NOTICEABLE AS I AM TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC/CROSSING LANES AND THE FAILURE TO ACCELERATE, AND THE COLLISION RISK THE FAILURE IMPOSES, ARE MOST ALARMING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED A LACK OF GAS PEDAL 'RESPONSIVENESS' WHEN STOPPED OR IDLING AND ATTEMPTING TO ROLL FORWARD SLIGHTLY AS ONE WOULD ATTEMPT TO DO IN A LINE OF VEHICLES. OF NOTE, MY HUSBAND HAS A HONDA CIVIC LX 2012 WHICH HE HAS OWNED FOR FIVE MONTHS. THE SAME FAILURE TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED OR IDLING POSITION HAS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING HIS VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. While driving at about 40 mph the car suddenly started to pull toward the left. I pressed on the brake pedal as I steered to the right to try to bring the car back to my lane but I noticed the brake pedal was already very hard. In a second the car skidded out of control toward the right side of the road and it slammed its left side against some big rocks. The driver's door window broke and the side airbags deployed. The big rocks kept us from going into the water of a lake that the road runs next to. The passengers in the car were myself and my wife and were not injured but it was a very terrifying incident and the consequences could have been a lot worse. The vehicle has been released to Progressive, the Insurance Company.

I PROPOSED THAT THE HUB WAS OUT OF SPEC UPON DELIVERY AND THAT AFTER 11,000 MILES STRESSES ON THE CALIPER CAUSED IT TO BREAK, HOWEVER THEY DISAGREED AND WERE UNWILLING TO CALL THE HONDA AREA SERVICE MANAGER. COST OF REPAIR WAS INITIALLY QUOTED AT AROUND $800. FINAL COST OVER $1000. *TR

The parking brake control knob has broken off and parking brake can not be released without inserting a long object into release button. If I engage the parking brake it is stuck in that position and car will not move. If I don't engage the parking brake then there is no parking brake. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN URBAN AREA IN THE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE BRAKE PEDDLE GOT SPONGY AND ABOUT 60 SECONDS LATER, WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO STOPPING POWER. AT NO POINT, PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT OR AFTER THE INCIDENT DID ANY KIND OF WARNING LIGHT APPEAR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THERE WAS ALSO A STRONG BURNING SMELL IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. GRADUALLY THE BRAKING POWER CAME BACK TO ABOUT 50% AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SOME 20 MILES AWAY. STILL - NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP BLAMES THE PROBLEM ON THE CAR BEING DRIVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON (WHICH IT WAS NOT EXCEPT FOR THE INITIAL EMERGENCY STOP). THEY DON'T SEEM BOTHERED THAT ALL BRAKING POWER WAS LOST ON THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED. THE CAR REQUIRES NEW REAR BRAKES TO MAKE IT DRIVE-ABLE AGAIN. Driving around town, I stopped our 2012 Honda Civic at a stoplight. The brake pedal vibrated from the ABS modulator, then went all the way to the floor. I had the brake system checked at a workshop, bled the brake lines, and the same situation repeated. It was recommended I replace the brake modulator and brake pump. I called our Honda dealer and the brake pump is on hard backorder with no indication of when or if it will be available. A check of junkyards showed very few of these pumps potentially available, indicating demand is very strong. Many of the Civics in the junkyards we saw were totalled due to front end collissions. Perhaps they discovered the brake issue too late? The car is not driveable. After reviewing forums and [XXX] there were many reports of brake problems with 2012 - 13 Honda Civics. I believe this warrants a close look. Brakes are the most important part of any motor vehicle in my opinion, and until there is a remedy my car will sit as a 3,000 lb paperweight. THERE IS A LEAK FROM MY GAS TANK. CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION. TOOK TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC RAN AND THERE IS NO RAMAGE, RUST, RODANT CHEWING, OR PUNCTURE. IT IS LEAK FROM THE TANK/ WHERE THE CONNECTOR VALVE IS. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY FROM THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL 3 PM ON FRIDAY IN MY PARKING SPOT BEHIND THE HOUSE. GOING OUT OT MY CAR I TURNED IT ON, FINISHED PUTTING MY THINGS IN THE TRUNK. PRECEDED TO GET INTO THE CAR AND I SMELLED GAS EVEN STRONGER. I COMMUTE ALMOST 2 HOURS TO WORK AND THEN 2 HOURS BACK EACH DAY. THEREFORE, I TRADED MY SILVERADO FOR A 2012 CIVIC FOR THE GAS MILEAGE. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN MAY OF 2014. IT WAS THE SECOND CIVIC ON THE LOT THAT I TEST DROVE. I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING AMISS ABOUT EITHER CAR DURING THE TEST DRIVES. HOWEVER, ON MY FIRST TRIP HOME FROM WORK I NOTICED THAT I FELT LIKE MY BUTT WAS SINKING FURTHER INTO THE SEAT AND MY LEGS BEGAN TO ACHE REALLY BAD. ALSO, THE LUMBAR SUPPORT IS FAR LESS THAN DESIRABLE. SO FAR THE ONLY FIX I HAVE COME UP WITH IS TO LAY FOLDED TOWEL DOWN IN THE SEAT. BUT SOMETIMES THE TOWEL MOVES OR BECOMES UNFOLDED. I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR A MORE PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THE UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS. *TR

CAR SEATS ARE EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. ABSOLUTELY NO BACK SUPPORT AND HEAD REST IS WAY TOO FORWARD, CAUSING AN ARCH OF YOUR BACK. I HAVE A DAILY COMMUTE TO WORK OF 120 MILES AND EVERY DAY I FEEL LIKE MY BACK NEEDS TO RE-ALIGNED. I HAVE A MONTHLY COST OF $340 FOR CAR PAYMENT AND $50-$80 OF BODY RE-ALIGNMENT. MANUFACTURE SHOULD HAVE A DISCLAIMER ON THESE VEHICLES.

WHEN MY 2012 CIVICS FUEL TANK IS FILLED ALL THE WAY, THE GAS SEEMS TO FLUSH BACK AND FORTH WHILE STOPPING OR PARKING ON HILLS. IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND THE GAS SLAMS INTO THE WALLS OF THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT THROWS OFF THE BALANCE OF THE CAR BY HAVING THE GAS FLOW IN SUCH AN ABRUPT MANNER. IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM SHOULD A 2012 CIVIC HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE LAST THING A NEW CAR OWNER WANTS IS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FUEL TANK EVERYTIME THEY BRAKE, STOP, OR PARK ON HILLS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT AND THAT ALL THE OTHER 2012 CIVICS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR

CAR WAS DRIVEN APPROX 3 MILES THEN WAS PARKED FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES. WHEN RETURNING TO THE CAR FIRE TRUCKS WERE AT THE CAR PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. CAR WAS DESTROYED. KEARNY, NJ POLICE REPORT #[XXX] STATED THAT THEY (TOW TRUCK OPERATOR AND THE POLICE OFFICER) OBSERVED A BROKEN FUEL LINE. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL FOR FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM AFTER THE FIRE. MY FRIEND AND I WENT TO THE DEALER, GARDEN STATE HONDA ON RIVER ROAD IN PASSAIC AND SAW THE MANAGER. HE STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT TALK TO US IF EITHER ONE OF US WAS AN ATTORNEY. WE GAVE HIM A BINDER WITH A SERIES OF 8.5 X 11 PHOTOS OF THE CAR AND COPIES OF THE RECALL FOUND ON THE INTERNET. A REP CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THE MATTER WAS BETWEEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY (ALLSTATE) AND HONDA USA. MY FRIEND CALLED THE MANAGER WHO WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE SITUATION GOT ANGRY AND REFUSED TO TALK ANYMORE ABOUT IT. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE HONDA CIVIC 2012, I'VE HAD PROBLEMS. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THE AIR BAGS TURNING ON AND OFF. APPARENTLY, THE AIR BAGS TURN OFF IF A CHILD/SOMEONE IS UNDER 100 POUNDS. HOWEVER, ALL MY PREVIOUS EX'S WERE AROUND 110 POUNDS, SO THE AIRBAGS TURN OFF OR ON. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE ONE OF MY GIRLFRIENDS DIE BECAUSE OF A CRASH WHERE THE AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF. SECOND PROBLEM: THE CAR WILL NOT START MULTIPLE OF TIMES! I HAD MY BATTERY CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT IS NOT THE ALTERNATOR, EITHER! APPARENTLY THE STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM OR THE SECURITY SYSTEM DRAINS THE BATTERY. I HAD TO BUY A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY AND JUMPER CABLES WHICH I CARRY IN MY TRUNK BECAUSE I AM TIRED OF CALLING MY INSURANCE COMPANY OR SECURITY AT THAT LOCATION TO JUMP START MY CAR. *TR

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY AIRBAG STATING THERE IS AN AIRBAG ERROR IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO HONDA AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IN THEIR COMPUTER IT SHOWS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT. THEY TOLD ME IN ORDER TO CHECK IT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR APART AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY $300 UP FRONT JUST TO CHECK IT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT IT ISN'T COVERED IN THE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD FOR THEM TO EVEN JUST LOOK AT MY CAR. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A 6 YR WARRANTY COVERAGE IF HONDA DOESN'T WANT TO COVER ANYTHING! OVER THE SUMMER I HAD A DRAINAGE LEAK THAT WAS COMING FROM THE ELECTRICAL FUSE IN MY CAR, GUESS WHAT HONDA DID NOT CARE!... THESE DAYS I THINK A BICYCLE WOULD BE THE SAFEST THING... LOL... SUFFICE IT TO SAY LIFE IS EXPENSIVE AND I DON'T THINK WE WILL BE GETTING A BREAK. THANKS HONDA FOR ONLY CARING ABOUT YOUR SALES & MONEY AND NOT CARING ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS SAFETY! LIVES! FAMILIES! DURING A MILD RAIN EVENT TODAY I DROVE MY CAR FOR NO MORE THAN 35 MINUTES AT NO MORE THAN 60 MPH. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, I NOTICED A WET SPOT WHERE THE DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG COVER MEETS THE INTERIOR ROOF COVER ALONG THE A PILLAR. I SUSPECT THAT WATER IS LEAKING IN NEAR THE JUNCTION OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ROOF RAIL SEAL AS THEY APPEAR TO HAVE DETERIORATED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS LEAK WILL CAUSE A MALFUNCTION IN MY DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG, A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THE FOLLOWING YOUTUBE VIDEO DEMONSTRATES THE ISSUE PERFECTLY (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=XIYZNF6IGBE). *TR

I DON'T KNOW WHAT A TAKATA RECALL IS, BUT PER HONDA'S WEBSITE I HAVE NO RECALLS. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 5/21 AROUND 2PM. I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT CITY ROAD CLOSE TO GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 25MPH. THE WOMAN WHO WAS DRIVING NEXT TO ME "DIDN'T SEE ME" AS SHE TURNED INTO MY LANE. SHE SCRAPED THE WHOLE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR THEN HER CAR LODGED INTO MY CAR NEAR WHERE THE DOOR & FRONT PART OF THE CAR MEET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CAR HIT RIGHT NEAT THE SIDE AIRBAG, BUT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. THAT IS WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT. WHY DID NONE OF THE AIRBAGS GO OFF?

Component or system failure: The vehicle experienced failures involving the engine/ignition system, emissions system, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and power steering. On July 14, 2025, warning messages appeared for “Check Emissions System,” “Check VSA System,” and “Check Power Steering System.” Diagnostics identified engine misfire code P0304 (Cylinder #4). On August 11, 2025, an authorized Honda dealership confirmed a seized spark plug and cylinder head damage, indicating an internal engine defect. The vehicle is currently with the selling dealership and available for inspection. Safety risk: Simultaneous failure warnings for emissions, VSA, and power steering created an unsafe driving condition. Impaired stability control and power steering increase the risk of loss of vehicle control during turning or emergency maneuvers. Confirmation of problem: Yes. Independent diagnostics confirmed the misfire. The selling dealer attempted repairs between July 22–25, 2025, but the same warnings returned. On August 8, 2025, the dealer admitted it lacked tools and software to diagnose or repair CNG vehicles. Honda later confirmed internal engine damage. Inspections: The vehicle was inspected

I purchased this vehicle 6 months ago from a dealer. In the short time I have had the car, there have been multiple issues presented. Bluetooth has been malfunctioning (connects the disconnects), window regulator has had to be replaced three times now (window kept disconnecting from the track and would cause the window to go down sideways and get stuck), more recently the AC condenser went out (it was reported as the condenser has small pieces of metal inside preventing the freon to get into the system and cool the inside of the vehicle).

So according to Honda Service Bulletin 20-030, all honda civic 2012-2015 hybrids having IMA Motor Power Inverter (MPI) have to fixed. I have the SAME CAR, SAME MODEL, SAME YEAR AND SAME ERROR CODES AS THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND THIS IS SUCH A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL POWER INVERTER ISSUE. Yet HONDA IS denying to work on it, even though there is 15 years or 150,000 miles warranty for this specific issue and MY CAR HAS 95000 miles. Yet HONDA is trying to run away from fixing it by claiming the VIN number is not associating whereby MY CAR IS EXACT SAME AS THE MODEL, year and issue for the GIVEN SERVICE BULLETIN. This is complete absurd and consumer rights are being thrown away by Honda. I am very sure that my United States NHTSA, state consumer protection, federal trade commission, all are going to help me and make Honda pay for this. https://electricvehicleforums.com/forums/honda-civic-hybrid-12/civic-hybrid-ima-failure-bad-power-inverter-32102/index6.html On this link, there is a form of several other individuals experiencing the same issue that I experienced with this vehicle. Randomly, while driving, ON THE HIGHWAY, all the engine dashboard lights came on at once. The car stopped working. It shut down in the most dangerous environment and it’s a miracle that we didn’t get into a car crash. Taking the car to hybrid auto repair in order have the codes read, there was a readout of P1440, B2993, and B2992. Doing research, I found the link which I included; it appears there is a consistent IGBT malfunction in the motor power inverter which is believed to happen after 100k miles but from different testimonials, can actually happen at any mileage. This electrical issue has been closely related to the air conditioner (which our car had issues with when purchased) with the summer months upon us, I can only imagine how many more of these hybrid vehicles will spontaneously lose power in the middle of traffic.

One out of 10000 blub can like that. 2. I had a few Honda before, all light blubs will be good even they were more than 80000 miles and more than 12 or 15 years old. This is a clearly quality issue. ON 3/15/2019 I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED (CHECK ENGINE, BRAKE MALFUNCTION, IMA BATTERY, CHARGING MALFUNCTION). THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE THERE, THEY DETERMINE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO RODENTS CHEWING FROM WIRES WHICH DAMAGED THE FUEL LINE AND IMA SYSTEM. AFTER THIS WAS REPAIRED, THE CAR STILL HAD FAILURE CODES DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THE CAR'S SYSTEM. TROUBLESHOOTING LED THE TECHNICIAN TO DETERMINE THAT THE MOTOR POWER INVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS REQUIRED THEM TO ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE THE JUNCTION BOARD. AFTER THEY WERE INSTALLED, THE IMA LIGHT STAYED ON, THE BATTERY WOULD NOT CHARGE, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO RECODE. THEY HAD TO PUT IN A TEST MCM AND A SECOND MPI (SINCE THE FIRST ONE MALFUNCTIONED AS WELL). THIS OCCURRED OVER THE COURSE OF ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE A SPECIFIC CAUSE THAT LED TO THE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, SO IT APPEARED TO BE A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. I WAS CHARGED FOR THE REPAIRS AS WELL AS ALMOST TWO MONTHS OF RENTAL CAR FEES. *TR

THIS TIME THE VSA AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ON, ALONG WITH THE LCD SCREEN SHOWING A SYSTEM FAILURE ON THESE TWO SYSTEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VSA MODULATOR MODULE WAS COMPLETELY FRIED. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING TO ME, AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 827 MILES ON IT WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND THE MODULE FRIED WHILE SITTING AT A GAS STATION (THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING).
